He showed some amazing performance to walk away with the victory. Villopoto committed a small mistake which made him come at the second position. James Stewart finished third in the race. The ninth match will be held at the Edward Jones Dome of St. Louis this coming Saturday.
As the 2012 season of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, a part of the FIM World Championship, heads towards the Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis’, the ninth match of this season will be conducted this coming Saturday night. Ryan Dungey of team Red Bull KTM is high spirited after his win at Atlanta. The racer from Belle Plaine, Minn., will try to gain on the momentum which he gained last weekend and again try to deliver another great performance.
It‘s noteworthy that Dungey was also the winner of the Supercross match held at St. Louis in 2010. Dungey’s win helped him cut through Ryan Villopoto’s points lead in the Supercross Class series. Prior to the eighth race of the series which was held last Saturday at Atlanta, Ryan Dungey was able to earn podium appearances in five different races in this season and he now sits at the second spot in the points table.
“It was a nice feeling when I got the first win for KTM in this season during the Supercross match at Phoenix but since then, it took me a long time to score another win,” quoted Dungey. “I am very happy with my performance at Atlanta. I and my team were waiting for this win since a long time. My entire team was working really very hard to register another win but somehow things weren’t entirely going our way. I’m happy that things are progressing in a better way and our performance is improving a lot.”
Villopoto kicked off the match at Atlanta from the sixth position. Though he showed some amazing performances, he was not quite able to go past Ryan Dungey in the heat race. “I just committed a small mistake in the beginning of the race which made me fall from my bike. This cost me a lot and the result was visible at the race end. The race track was a bit tough. The bike was uncontrollable at several occasions. Overall, I’m happy with my efforts tonight and it’s satisfying being second in the race. My spirits are high and I’m really looking forward to the next match at the Edward Jones Dome of St. Louis,” quoted Villopoto.
James Stewart of team JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha is one of the most hyped contenders of the 2012 Supercross title. At Atlanta, he was able to deliver an average performance after getting an ordinary start. The two time AMA Supercross champion finally finished at the third spot and appeared at the podium for the third time in this season.
