2012 AMA Supercross Series – Los Angeles Recap and Oakland Preview

The third race of the 2012 AMA Supercross series took place at the Dodgers Stadium, Los Angeles on 21st January, 2012. It was an action packed race which was won by Chad Reed of team TwoTwo Motorsports. Jake Weimer of team Kawasaki is the surprise package of this season as he has delivered great performances in every race held so far. Ryan Dungey once again appeared on the podium for the third consecutive time in this season and leads the points table. As the series moves on to the fourth race to be held at Oakland, California, it is also expected to a high voltage racing event and will determine who moves in to the mains of this season.

The round three of the 2012 AMA Supercross series, a part of the FIM World Championship went down in a spectacular manner at the Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles on 21st January, 2012. The third match of this season was witnessed by a crowd of more than 36,000 fans. The match was spectacular as another new winner in the Supercross class series got crowned for this season. This time, it was Chad Reed of team TwoTwo Motorsports who showed great effort and skills to work his way right to the front and took the lead as he went pass Jake Weimer. After that swift move, Chad Reed never looked back and left the other contenders to fight for the scraps. While Jake Weimer held onto the 2nd position for the next few laps, Ryan Dungey, James Stewart and other riders were able to come under his vicinity.

This season saw three different riders winning at the three races held so far at Anaheim, Phoenix and now at Los Angeles. AlthoughVillopoto, Dungeyand Reed have lived up to the much hyped expectations of their fans, James Stewart is expected to show some charisma and look for a payback ride at the fourth race of this season to be held at Oakland, California this weekend. Villopoto's teammate Jake Weimer has been one of the greatest surprises of this season. The former SupercrossLites champion showed great skills and effort at the Dodger Stadium. Weimer has shown great precision, speed and accuracy which ultimately earned him his SupercrossLites series title. This 21st seeded rider is expected to again deliver high voltage performance at Oakland too.

Ryan Dungey and Red Bull/KTM continue to show that their newly formed collaboration is yielding great results as Dungey once again appeared on the podium. Dungey has been appearing on the podium in all the three events held so far. His worst performance this season was a 3rd spot win and he was victorious at Phoenix, registering his first win of this season. He is in sole possession of the series lead and heads to Oakland boozing with confidence. At Oakland, he will ride with a red plate at his background depicting the 2012 series point’s leader.

The fourth race at Oakland is expected to be a cracker of a match. While Weimer is turning out to be a front-runner, the other riders too are determined to deliver a mind-boggling performance. Despite the crashes, injuries, weather threats, qualifying failures, challenging tracks and many other unforeseen circumstances, the 2012 AMA Supercross series remains to be awesome throughout the matched held so far.
