The 2012 FIM World Championship now moves on to its third round at Dodgers stadium, Los Angeles. After an action packed racing event at Chase Field, Phoenix, fans are looking forward to another nail-biting event at Los Angeles. Anaheim hosted the first round of the 2012 season of the AMA Supercross series whereas Phoenix witnessed the second round. Now, it’s time for the famous Dodgers Stadium in downtown Los Angeles to host the third racing event.
This season witnessed the monumental move of Ryan Dungey from team Suzuki to team Red Bull/KTM. Though his decision was of much speculation, in just two races his decision seemed fruitful both for him and for Red Bull/KTM too. He looked dominant in Phoenix and delivered a great performance. Finally, this fifth seeded racer hit the holeshot and went away with his first win of this season and gifted Red Bull/KTM its first ever victory in the Supercross premier class. Thus, the collaboration seemed promising.
There was never any lack of action at Phoenix. Ryan Villopoto and James Stewart went down at numerous times in the sand section of the racing track and gave a tight fight to other contenders. Villopoto showed great effort and surpassed others through the field and went into the podium spot. Although he faced tight completion from Kevin Windham, Villopoto finally finished third in the race. Villopoto went pass Kevin Windham before a lap to go to the finishing line. Jake Weimer, the teammate of Villopoto, was ahead of him in the race. Weimer looked solid all day, showed great effort and gave a good fight to Dungey. Had Dungey made another mistake in the race, Weimer would have won the top spot. He finally secured a well deserving second spot.
Although James Stewart maintained his speed wherever required, he looked to be struggling at several positions. He made some solid passes during his heat race, looked convincing and moved to the front too, but then he crashed into the sand section of the field. This dismantled him and he took quite a while to regain his speed and position in the race. He finally finished eighth in the event.
