The fifth match of the 2012 Women's MX Championship was held last Saturday night at the eve of the sixth round of the 2012 Lucas Oil AMA Pro MX Championship. The event was hosted at the renowned Glen Helen Raceway located in Buchanan, Michigan. The 2012 season of the MX Championship is scheduled to host twelve rounds whereas the 2012 Women's MX Championship will play a total of eight matches. At Michigan, the fifth match of the 2012 Women's MX Championship underwent successfully yielding lots of excitement and fun for the thousands of zealous fans who gathered together at the Glen Helen Raceway last weekend to witness some amazing outdoor dirt bike racing performances. The fans weren’t disappointed at all as they got to see a mind-blowing performance from Ashley Fiolek of Team Honda Muscle Milk who was completely dominating in both her moto matches and finally emerged out as the winner of the event by winning both the moto matches.

Both the moto races in the Women's MX match were full of excitement and thrill. Ashley Fiolek outplayed all her competitors in both the motos to sweep victory in both of them. She was clearly the winner of that night. The rider form St. Augustine, Florida was dominating right from the start and maintained it throughout the event. Sara Pettersson of team Red Bull KTM finished at an overall second position with a score of 3-4 in the motos. Tarah Gieger of team Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil Honda acquired the final podium position with a score of 2-6 finish in the motos.

Ashley Fiolek was the winner of the 2011 Women's MX Championship last year and she is also the defending championship of this season. But unfortunately, her ranking in the current Motocross standings of the Women's MX Championship isn’t that impressive keeping in mind her capabilities and talent. Right from the start of this season, she was hanging around the third and the fourth positions in the points table well below her #1 rival, Jessica Patterson of team Suzuki, who has been constantly performing well in this season right from the start and is currently at the top of the Women's MX standings. Hence, the Redbud national was a big challenge for Ashley Fiolek, the defending champion to improve her ranking in the points tally in order to be in the hunt for the tile specially when there are only three more matches left in this season of the Women's MX Championship. Though Patterson is still at the top of the charts, Fiolek has managed to climb onto the third position by virtue of her win at the Redbud National.
