Blake Wharton Won 2012 Indianapolis Eastern Regional SX Lites Class Series

The fifth match of the 2012 Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Class Series was held last weekend at the Lucas Oil Stadium of Indianapolis. Finally, Justin Barcia of team GEICO Honda got defeated in this season and Blake Wharton of team Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki registered a win at Indianapolis. Kawasaki’s Darryn Durham finished second while Barcia secured the third position in the race.

Last Saturday, the Lucas Oil Stadium of Indianapolis was the host of the eleventh match of the 2012 AMA Supercross series, a part of the FIM World Championship. The race ran houseful and roped in an audience of more than 59,900 dirt racing fans. The evening turned out to be a very memorable one for the Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki racing team as their ace rider, Blake Wharton, delivered pulled off an amazing performance to register his first ever win in this season of the Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Class Series. The rider from Pilot Point, Texas, rode beautifully during the main event to clinch away the victory.

As the main event of the fifth match of 2012 Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Class Series kicked off at Indianapolis, team Red Bull KTM’s ace rider, Ken Roczen, had a great start and quickly acquired the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot reward along with Blake Baggett of team Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki who was following Roczen at the second position. Through the entire turn one, Roczen, the rider from Murrieta, Calif., was leading the field completely throughout the entire turn one. Baggett showed some skills to quickly go pass Roczen, but then Roczen tactically answered back Baggett as he managed to overtake him near the ending of the first lap.

FIM World ChampionshipOn the fifth lap, the match was flagged red because of a crash by Kyle Cunningham of team Star/Valli/Yamaha. The match then again resumed in a much floundered format with ken Roczen, Blake Baggett and Blake Wharton riding in at the top three spots, respectively. Justin Barcia, who currently leads the points table, resumed the match from the eighth position. After the race restarted, Wharton showed great speed and skills to charge his way up to Baggett and finally overtook him to gain the second position. On the same lap itself, Darryn Durham of team Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki secured the third spot. Ken Roczen, who was once leading the race, crashed badly on the race track and also faced a serious mechanical problem with his bike which compelled him to restart the race again from the last position.

Wharton then acquired the leading position in the match which he could manage till the end of the race. He then went on to register his first victory in the main event of this season of the Lites Class Championship. It is also the second victory of his career.  Darrryn Durham chased Wharton beautifully but only managed to finish second in the race. For the second time in this season, Durham finished second in the race. Justin Barcia of team GEICO Honda was eyeing on his fifth consecutive Lites Class victory in this match but was disappointed. Finally he got defeated in this season and appeared at the podium in the third spot.
