In the current Motocross standings of the 450cc class, Ryan Dungey of team Red Bull KTM leads the table with 236 points under his belt. Mike Alessi of team MotoConcepts Suzuki follows Dungey at the second position with 182 points while Jake Weimer of team Kawasaki is at the third position 179 points to his credit.
After the successful completion of the fifth round of the 2012 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship last weekend at the famed Budds Creek Motocross Park of southern Maryland, Montgomery County, the next round i.e. the sixth event of this season of outdoor dirt bike racing championship will be played two weeks later on 7th July, 2012 at Buchanan, Michigan.
Meanwhile, the Motocross standings of the 450cc class category saw many riders add up significant points to their tally after the completion of the Red Bull Budds Creek National. While some riders were able to strengthen their lead by gaining high points, some managed to gain enough points to overtake their forerunners in the points table. Hence, it’s worth to have a look at the ever changing points table of the 450cc class of this current Motocross championship.
At the top of the current Motocross standings of the 450cc class, there is Ryan Dungey of team Red Bull KTM. The rider from Belle Plaine, Minnesota is leading the charts with 236 points. Following Dungey at the second position in the points table, there is Mike Alessi of team MotoConcepts Suzuki with 182 points under his belt. Thus, the only rider who seemed to have posed any sort of threat to the leadership of Dungey is Mike Alessi. Dungey has been at the top since several weeks now and his reign doesn’t seem to end soon. Three consecutive victories since the Thunder Valley National and a lead of 54 points over Alessi assert this. On several occasions, Alessi, the rider from Victorville, California, gave some tough fight to Dungey on the race track.
Next name in the points table is Jake Weimer of team Kawasaki. The rider from Rupert, Idaho, is the second runners-up and has 179 points to him. Alessi leads Weimer by just 3 points and Weimer will no doubt try to deliver his best performance at the Red Bull Redbud National to nullify this gap and climb over Alessi in the Standings. On the other hand, Alessi will try to strengthen his lead over Weimer by as much as possible and retain his position in the points tally. Whatever may be the case, it seems that the race loving fans are definitely going to witness a fierce battle between Alessi and Weimer at the next Motocross event for gaining an upper hand on each other.
Meanwhile at the fourth position, there is Andrew Short of team Honda with 154 points while Brett Metcalfe of team Suzuki rounds off the top five of the current Motocross standings with 142 points to his credit.
