Eighth Round Cedar Park Arenacross 2012 Results

The eighth round of the 2012 Arenacross series ended with none other than Tyler Bowers of Babbitt’s Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki landing a decisive victory with six seconds ahead of his nearest rival.  In the Lites Event, Kevin Markwardt of BNTQ.com Honda was able to get the Holeshot.

The 2012 Arenacross  series came into fruition last Saturday with a known and popular dirt bike racer gracing the winner’s podium.  During the 2nd night of racing in Cedar Park Center, it was Tyler Bowers of Babbitt’s Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki, who showed dominance in the competition by landing the 9th victory for the season in the Arenacross class championship.  Meanwhile, in the Lites category, it was Lance Vincent of Munn Racing KTM who surprised everybody with his astounding victory.

It was Bowers who got the Holeshot in the 254-lap Arenacross event and that was all he needed in order to sustain his lead all the way to the finish line.  He was able to cross the finish with six seconds to spare against everyone else.  Thus, showing true to form championship material as he is the reigning champ in this event.  Just behind Bowers was Zach Ames of Bella’s Cupcakes/Club MX Kawasaki as well as Jeff Gibson of Honda who slugged it out for the second and third slots.  When they reached the 17th lap, Gibson was able to pull away until he got to the finish line. Ames looked like he was able to get the final spot on the podium, but Chad Johnson of Babbitt’s Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki spoiled that for him as he was able to get the third place. Bowers is now able to get a 16 point distance between his closest rival Gibson after losing to him previously.

Meanwhile, in the 18-lap Arenacross Lites category, it was Kevin Markwardt of BNTQ.com Honda, who was able to get the holeshot.  He was able to handle the challenge of being in the lead in spite of the fierce competition that his fellow riders were showing him as he was able to hold on to it almost the entire time. It was in lap 10 that Vincent another rider wrested the top spot while Johnson and Markwardt slugged it out.  However, Markwardt was able to still dominate and finish in first place, while Johnson settled for second and Michael Willard of Dragon Racing Fuels/AG Motorsports KTM settled for the final slot on the winner’s podium.

The ninth round of the 2012 AMA Arenacross Series will continue in the coming weekend and it will be held in Rupp Arena located in Lexington, Kentucky.  It is going to be a one night only event beginning at seven pm on Saturday the 4th of February.
