The very first lap of the 2012 AMA Supercross Main event at the Dodger Stadium, LA, saw a crash between Trey Canard of team Honda and Ryan Morais of team Star Valli/Yamaha. While Trey Canard went down to have a severe back injury, Ryan Morais broke his jaw and fractured his ribs and several vertebrae. Trey Canard underwent a surgery this Tuesday night. Ryan Morais was immediately transported to a nearby local hospital and is currently being treated and evaluated.
The third round of the 2012 AMA Supercross series, a part of the popular FIM World Championship was conducted at the Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles on 21st January, 2012. The match saw another new winner in the Supercross class series of this season. This time, it was Chad Reed of team TwoTwo Motorsports who delivered great performance and went away with the winning trophy. After a swift move, Chad Reed never looked back and went on to acquire the checkers. It has been an event season till the three races held so far. It was however very disappointing to see some of the potential contenders go down due to injuries. Here is an update on the injury status of some of the hyped riders.

While Trey Canard went down to have a severe back injury, Ryan Morais broke his jaw and fractured his ribs and several vertebrae.
Team Honda’s Trey Canard underwent a surgery this Tuesday night because of the severe back injury which he acquired during the third race at Dodger Stadium, LA. The surgery was done with the purpose of stabilizing the injured area of Canard’s back. Doctors have reported that there isn’t any problem with Canard’s legs as he can completely feel them. Canard’s Brother Aaron said, “The back surgery went down exactly as it was planned. Though he is still in some amount of discomfort and pain, he is trying to get over it. He is positive and looking forward to get back to the field soon. Depending on how his back reacts in the next few days, he could be released by the end of this weekend.”
Star Valli/Yamaha’s Ryan Morais was immediately transported to a nearby local hospital and is currently being treated for a broken jaw. He has also fractured some of his vertebrae, broken some ribs and has a concussion. Though there is no sign of any damage to his spinal cord at this moment, doctors are continuously keeping him under evaluation. Ryan’s spirits are up and he is looking forward to a speedy recovery.
