The third round of the 2012 AMA Supercross series went down this Saturday at the Dodgers stadium, Los Angeles. It was an action packed racing event which took place in front of more than 36,000 fans. Chad Reed of team TwoTwo Motorsports was the winner of the race. Ryan Dungey of team Red Bull KTM secured the second spot. Meanwhile, in the main event of the Western Regional Supercross Lites Class series, Eli Tomac of team GEICO Honda registered his first win of this season.
Saturday evening of 21st January, 2012 witnessed the third round of the 2012 AMA Supercross series, a part of the FIM World Championship. The event took place at the Dodgers stadium, LA. It was a high voltage racing event with numerous nail-biting moments. Chad Reed of team TwoTwo Motorsports went away as the winner of the Supercross Class main event at the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series. In front of about 36,000 fans, Reed registered his first win of this season. Ryan Dungey finished second. Meanwhile, in the main event of the Western Regional Supercross Lites Class series, Eli Tomac of team GEICO Honda won his first match in this season.
After hitting the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot, Jake Weimer of team Kawasaki held onto the leading position until Reed passed him in the 6th lap. Weimer, who was running at the second spot, was again crossed by James Stewart of team Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX. Stewart then took the second position. Weimer then had a crash and finished 14th in the race. On the other hand, Ryan Dungey of team Red Bull KTM, who was the winner of the second race at Phoenix, settled fourth right after Stewart. On the 12th lap, Dungey could capitalize on Stewart’s crash and took the third position. It was Reed’s 41st win at any Supercross Class series and a third consecutive appearance at the podium this season. In every race of this season, Dungey was on the podium and now tops the points table.
In the main event of the Western Regional Supercross Lites Class series, Eli Tomac quickly went past the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot winner Rockstar Suzuki’s Martin Davalos. Tomac then rode very well for the next fifteen laps. On the 6th lap, Zach Osborne of team Yamaha went pass Davalos to register the second spot. Davalos then had a crash and went far behind in the race before coming back. Dean Wilson of team Kawasaki, who was the winner of the main event at Phoenix, went past Osborne on the 12th lap. Wilson currently resides at the second spot. Osborne then secured a career-best third position at the race end.
It was Tomac’s third win of his career and he now tops the point table of the Western Regional Supercross Lites Class. Wilson is one point ahead of him. The fourth race of the 2012 season will take place next Saturday at the O.com Coliseum stadium at Oakland. Catch the action live commencing from 12:00pm EST on CBS channel.
