Last Saturday night, the famous Prairie City OHV Park stadium of Sacramento, California played the host to the season opener of the 2012 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. It was an extravagant event which saw a completely jam-packed stadium. Thousands of fans gathered together to witness the opening match and it was completely an electrifying atmosphere in the stadium. The Rockstar Energy Racing team seemed to be on air that particular evening and was riding high courtesy of some spectacular performances from its ace riders. Not only did their newly signed in champion female rider, Jessica Patterson, registered a convincing victory in the opening match of the 2012 Women’s Motocross Championship (WMX), but the team also gained positions in the top-5 and in the top-10 of the 450cc and 250cc Class races respectively.
In the 250cc Class race, Martin Davalos of Rockstar Energy Racing team had an awesome start in the first moto race and he gained good speed too. But unfortunately, he then had a pretty tough time in the race track and struggled to maintain his position. He managed to finish moto-I race at the 14th position. In the moto-II race, he seemed to be much more determined, confident and full of vengeance. Once again, he went off to a great start to his race and rode impressively. He was pretty quick and managed to overtake several riders to make his way ahead. He finished fourth in the moto-II race and thereby acquired an overall sixth position in the event. Thus, he brought his team a position in the top-10 of the 250cc Class race.
Jason Anderson of Rockstar Energy Racing team finished eighth in moto-I and ninth in the moto-II race. He then fetched an overall eighth position in the event. After the race, Martin Davalos quoted, “Hangtown opener turned out to be a little tough for me. I had a pretty bad start in moto-I but fortunately, I could make a sound comeback in the second moto race. Getting my team a position in the top ten of the first 250cc Class race of this season feels satisfactory. Overall, the season opener at Hangtown went down nice and now, I’m really looking forward a great race at Freestone next weekend.”
In the 450cc Class event, Brett Metcalfe of Rockstar Energy Racing team seemed promising and managed to deliver a great performance. He finished fourth in the moto-I race and fifth in moto-II. He then gained an overall fifth position in the event and thus fetched his team a position in the top-5 of the 450cc Class event.
