The ninth match of the 2012 AMA Supercross Series, a part of the FIM World Championship was played last weekend at the Edward Jones Dome of St. Louis. The night was a very memorable one for the Rockstar Energy racing team as it was the first time in this entire series so far that the team has earned an appearance at the race podium. Hence, last Saturday night was full of celebration and party for the Rockstar Energy racing team. The honor came when Blake Wharton, the ace rider of Rockstar Energy, was able to finish the main event at a convincing third position. In front of a totally sold out crowd of more than 60000 fans, he delivered some spectacular performances to appear at the third position in the podium.
During the heat race of the Supercross Lites Class Series, Wharton emerged as the hero as he acquired the Nuclear Cowboyz® Holeshot reward in no time. He was riding at a great speed and seemed to be completely focused on the race track. He quickly gained the lead in the heat race and rode beautifully to maintain it for the entire six laps. He then went on to register his first ever victory in a heat race in the season of Supercross Series. During the main event of the race, Wharton had a good start and right from the beginning, he was competing with the top five racers. Wharton then showed some great skills and aggressive racing which enabled him to go pass the racers who were riding in front of him. He finally managed to finish third in the match.
Hunter Hewitt, another ace rider of Rockstar Energy racing team, was riding well during his heat race. Unfortunately, he got tangled up in the race track with another racer and crashed hard on the track. He recovered well and went on to acquire the holeshot. He then showed some great efforts to acquire the lead and maintained it for all the four laps. He took his win as an advantage as he headed towards the main event. During the main event of the Supercross Lites Class Series, Hewitt unfortunately got pushed back wide right at the beginning and then went down. He then tried hard to recover and finally finished 12th in the race.
As the Supercross Series now heads towards Daytona Beach, Florida, for the tenth match of this season, the Rockstar Energy racing team is eyeing on another podium appearance. Don’t forget to catch the action LIVE exclusively on SPEED channel this coming Saturday.
