The Rockstar Energy Racing team had a pretty memorable night last Saturday during the eleventh race of 2012 AMA Supercross series at the Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis as the team registered their first victory in this entire 2012 season of the Supercross series. This moment arrived when Blake Wharton showed some great skills and captured the victory in the main event of the Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Class series. Several other teammates of Wharton too delivered some spectacular performances.
Rockstar Energy Racing team tasted first win of this season of the Supercross season when their ace rider Blake Wharton registered a thrilling victory in the fifth match of the 2012 Eastern Regional Supercross Lites series at Indianapolis. Bret Metcalfe, a teammate of Wharton was also able to deliver some spectacular performances to win his heat race during the eleventh match of 2012 AMA Supercross series at the Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis. Wharton’s performance last Saturday night was amazing and he gave his team the first main event victory in this season of the Supercross Lites Class Series.
Wharton’s victory not only marked his team’s first Supercross Lites class win, but also resulted in ending the winning streak of Justin Barcia. Before the match at Indianapolis, Barcia was undefeated in this season and had won four consecutive matches. During the heat race at Indianapolis, Wharton had a great start and quickly acquired the Nuclear Cowboys Holeshot award in no time. He rode beautifully during his entire heat race of six laps and managed to finish second in it. He then went into the main event with great confidence and finaly went on to walk away with the victory.
During the heat race, Hunter Hewitt, another rider of Rockstar Energy Racing team unfortunately had to suffer a bad phrase which affected his racing. During the first turn of the heat race, Hewitt got badly tangled up and dragged in with some other racers on the race track and immediately crashed down. This ultimately resulted in his ouster from the main event and it was a huge blow to the team as well.
In the main event of the Supercross class match, Brett Metcalfe of team Rockstar Energy Racing had the best race of this entire season so far. This Australian racer had an amazing start to his heat race and acquired the Nucclear Cowboys Holeshot reward in no time. He then rode beautifully to capture his first ever Supercross Lites Class heat race which had eight laps. During the main event which had 20 laps, Metcalfe generated great speed and was riding aggressively and went on to secure the fourth position at the race end.
During the heat race at Indianapolis, Rockstar Energy Racing’s Nick Wey crashed badly during the first lap and incurred some serious injuries. This ultimately compelled him to sit out for the entire night and he neither could complete his heat race not did he race in the main event. He is expected to get recovered soon before the match at Toronto this coming weekend.
