The sixth round of the 2012 Women’s MX Championship (WMX) was played last weekend during the Washougal National at the famous Washougal MX Park. Ashley Fiolek of Team Honda Muscle Milk won the event by winning both the moto matches while Tarah Gieger of team Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda finished at the second position with a 3-2 score in the motos. . Mariana Balbi of team Moto Concepts Honda captured the final podium position by delivering a4-3 score in the moto matches.
The 2012 Women’s MX Championship kicked off along with the 2012 Lucas Oil AMA Pro MX Championship on the 19th of May, 2012 during the Hangtown national. The 2012 Women’s MX Championship (WMX) will have eight rounds and the sixth round of this season was played last weekend during the Washougal National at the famous Washougal MX Park. Right from the start of the WMX event, it was evident that the chase in the championship standings is going to be fierce as only three rounds were left in this season including the Washougal National.
The prime highlight of the sixth round of 2012 WMX championship was the comeback of the points table leader, Jessica Patterson of team Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki. She was out of the race track during the last WMX round at the Redbud National due to an injured hand. At Washougal, she looked completely fit and ready to race in order to strengthen her lead in the championship aboard her factory built Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki bike.
However, it was Ashley Fiolek of Team Honda Muscle Milk who registered her third victory of this season by clean sweeping both the moto matches. Fiolek was victorious in both the motos and emerged out as the clear winner of that night. Meanwhile, Tarah Gieger of team Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda finished at the second position with a 3-2 score in the motos. The final position in the podium was captured by Mariana Balbi of team Moto Concepts Honda by delivering an impressive 4-3 score in the moto matches. Jessica Patterson made a sound comeback to the race track during the first moto match by finishing second in it. However, she came eighth in the second moto match to finally finish at the fourth position with a 2-8 score in the motos.
