World Championship – AMA Supercross Anaheim Opener

The 8th of January 2012 marked the beginning of the FIM world Championship at the Angels Stadium. It began with the AMA Supercross Anaheim opener. It was a thrilling match which was won by Ryan Villopoto of the Kawasaki team. It was the second consecutive AMA Supercross Anaheim opener win for Ryan. Chad Reed finished at the second spot and Ryan Dungey came third. In the western regional super cross lite class race, Cole Seely of the Honda team came out as the winner.  It was the third win of his career.

Dirt bikes are also known as the Trails Bikes which are off-road motorcycles. These cross country bikes are light weighted and are made to run on rough, unpaved and uneven terrains. They have superb suspension, rugged tires and a lower engine power. Some of the major dirt bike producers are Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, etc. The FIM World Championship is the first international dirt bike race to be conducted in 2012. It is the most recent dirt bike race which was conducted on 8th January 2012. The FIM World Championship began with the AMA Supercross Anaheim opener. It was a thrilling race which was won by Ryan Villopoto of Poulsbo, Wash.

The competition at the AMA Supercross Anaheim opener was neck-to-neck and the winner seemed to be indecisive till the last moment. Ryan Villopoto at the end took a leap ahead of all his competitors and came out as the winner. Ryan Villopoto belongs to the Kawasaki team. Ryan’s victory means a lot for the team as the New Year and the new season began with a victory for the whole team. The race was conducted at the Angel Stadium before a crowd of approximately 45,500 fans. A day before the AMA Supercross Anaheim opener, the Supercross Class Entry list was declared i.e. on 7th January, 2012.

Villopoto was the defending champion at the AMA Supercross Anaheim opener and began the main event of the Supercross Class with the famous Nuclear Cowboyz® Holeshot along with Ivan Tedesco, of the Bel-Ray team. Chad Reed of Honda and Ryan Dungey of Red Bull teams were the second and third to begin the race. James Stewart of JGRMX team secured the fourth position. Dungey crashed and allowed Stewart to come to the third position, but on the 11th lap, Dungey overtook Stewart. Although Stewart went ahead of Dungey on the 14th lap, he crashed on the next lap. Meanwhile, Ryan Villopoto cruised towards the victory and won his second consecutive AMA Supercross Anaheim opener with a 12.2 seconds win. Chad Reed finished at the second spot and Ryan Dungey came third. After winning the race, Villopoto quoted “It was a phenomenal night for me”.

In the western regional super cross lite class race, the opening phase was completely dominated by Cole Seely of Honda team. This racer from Murrieta, Calif thrilled the thousands of fans and at last was victorious in the race. Although Vince Friese of Suzuki won the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot, he was passed by Tyla Rattray of Kawasaki. Cole Seely gained the lead on the 2nd lap and won the third race of his career.  He now sits as the leader of the class’ points. After this thrilling race, the Phoenix’s Chase Field race is scheduled on the next Saturday as the second stop for the Monster Energy Super cross Championship.
