Riding Fast in the mud

The first fundamental for going fast in the mud is to ride towards the rear of the motorcycle. That way the front end is light and you can let it be your rudder, don’t worry if it wanders a little bit, just keep a loose grip and hang on tight with your knees. Most people dread the mud and that’s the number one reason they do so poorly in it. Always have a good attitude towards the slop; I mean, everybody’s gotta’ ride in it so you may as well have fun! The first fundamental for going fast in the mud is to ride towards the rear of the motorcycle. That way the front end is light and you can let it be your rudder, don’t worry if it wanders a little bit, just keep a loose grip and hang on tight with your knees. Always keep your momentum in the mud. Look for wide outside lines that allow you to maintain speed when exiting turns. Don’t follow other riders too closely and stay clear of the roost. They may get stuck and force you to come to a stop. Another trick is to square the corners when the normal lines become very rutted and slow. Enter wide, keep your momentum up and brake as little as possible. Drive to the inside cutting across the ruts on this faster new line. Look for spots on the track where no one is riding. Most of the time that’s where you want to be. Let me know how you do!

I look forward to trying these techniques out. I hate riding in the mud, it just throws my rear around especially in heavily rutted trails and tracks. I would really like to perfect my mud riding skills because I sure hate hitting a land ramp at 40mph only to get the back of my bike pulled side ways, not a good feeling.

There are times you just have to do it! Like those long enduros and you dont want to miss a race and they say its still on. Plus riding in the mud can be fun sometimes when done right

Well, that was satisfying looking back at my old posts. How I was like, I am not good riding in the mud and now it is a joke and super easy.
