How to prevent armpump

How to prevent armpump

Ride regularly.
This is obviously the best form of motocross training. Regular riding exercises and conditions the muscles in your forearms.
Stretch your forearms before you ride. Stretching should always be part of your motocross fitness regime anyway but it helps to pay special attention to the parts of your body that will be doing the most work.
Don't wear tight gloves. Make sure the wristbands of your gloves aren't too tight, the same goes for the cuffs of your riding jersey. Any tight fitting gear around your wrists will restrict blood flow.
Control set-up. Make sure your controls are set up properly. The standard is to have your brake and clutch lever in line with your forearms when you're in the attack position. Having them in the wrong spot can make them hard to reach and mess your body positioning up.
Exercise your forearms. Hold a squeeze ball or a piece of soft foam and clench your hand and then release. Do this until your forearm starts to ache then swap hands.

How do you prevent armpump?

Excellent post! What I find works best is to ride as much as you can. Also, doing forarm exercises help. Keep up the good news posts!

I rode with him and I've got the same deal. Once I can move again I might try the PU's. My back hurts pretty bad too. Got anything for that?

anyone else have any good tips or techniques for lowering or preventing arm pump. they would sure be useful to all us riders out there. ive heard excercises work and ive heard they dont. usually ive heard that creating endurance by a high number of reps is best. ive heard squeezing a ball is good and bad. i want to try taking an aspirin next time i ride and see where that gets me. ill let you all kno how it works, because i ride pretty hard and i get arm pump bad. lets us kno wat you've got.

Do forearm excercises and eat a lot of banana's. Also grip more with your legs loosen up the death grip on the bars. On long rides, I fill the Camlebak up with 50/50 pedialite/water. The pedialite will replenish you faster than anything else, also keeps you from cramping.
