glad to here you fixed it ,
me and a 3 friend of mine had crf 450R's 04,05,06,and mine 07 all of these header pipes glowed red hot after 1-2 mins running on the stand ,was told this happens to them if running on stand as they need air flow to cool water in rads .but my suzy's dont seem to get that hot for about 5 mins runnin on stand?strange ,

Well, I checked the woodruff key almost immediately. I knew the symptoms and I knew what could cause them and I checked and it wasn't it. As far as the header pipe, I have an '03 CRF450R which possesses none of these symptoms. The header needs to be cooled with air flow just like everything else. Even though it would be great if it could stay that hot because the increase in flow velocity would be good for probably 1/4hp gain. Thats all though, air over the header. Not flowing air over the radiator is a whole different story.
This bike was a long time ago and has been sold.
