it doesnt have a number so I dont know where you got powercore 1 from.
if I remeber right its a universal design for 2ts supposedly, but powercore 2's are for specific 2strokes, and powercore 4 is for specific 4 strokes.
maybe after theyve been repacked, but my friends powercore IV had rivets

um, powercore 1 is only made for 2 strokes.
there is no number, but it was the first one, so i just call it 1
by silencer im usually getting at a 2 stroke
i just call them mufflers, or canisters for 4 strokes

but then you said powercore 2's were specific for 2 strokes, oh, sorry, i misread, you can blame it on my dyslexia, i mixed the for around and now i see.
but, i dont think it was a universal design, i may be wrong, but im pretty sure it wasnt

i think it was, that or when they introduced the powercore 4 they put a 2 infront of it to distinguish the 2.

its really easy to repack. there should be 3 bolts maybe 4 holding it on you take thos out and you pull the canister off of it, then go buy new packing, its 5 bucks or cheaper. repack it bolt it back up and it will not be that loud at all. i use to have a shorty and if you keep them repacked that arent that loud

Thanks for the info. We put the original stock pipe back on this morning and its quieter than the shorty, so we'll keep it on for now. I also pulled it apart just like you said and the old packing looks fine, but I may just replace it anyway.
