but sometimes that brings out slack that you couldnt bring out by adjusting at the lever.

problem solved!! the moron who worked on the bike before me took a chissel to and bent over the lock washer behind the retaining nut to the clutch basket...it took a few minnutes of staring at the thing trying to figure out just how it all was supposed to work. i should really buy a book

so, when you pull the clutch all of the way in when putting it in first from a cold start it dies?

and once it is running it will start and go into gear fine right?
sounds like the clutch plates are sticking

do you use your clutch much? (for every gear)

it kinda sounds like you clutch is not worn in yet

when you go to shift it into 1st gear you bike's chain get taught and pulls the bike forward doesn't it?

to get it loosened up put it in a high gear (with the engine off, holding the kill switch) pull the clutch in and move it back and forth until the clutch slips then go to start your engine from neutral and you shouldn't have a problem when you put it in first

i wonder if they soaked the plates in oil before then installed them?

use the clutch more and this problem should dissipate
