possibly clutch on a rm250

It starts up just fine but when I try and pop it into first gear it dies 9 out of 10 times. The one time it doesn't as soon as I begin to release the clutch it dies. so I'm thinking I need to adjust the clutch. Anything else it might be?

when you get it running does it die if you try to pull the clutch in and stop?

Nope, only if I pop it into gear. Thats why I was thinking that the cable is possibly to tight and doesn't let the clutch engage so that you can switch gears.

how much slack do you have? is your clutch lever tight against the perch? you should be able to fit a dime between it and the perch.

where the clutch lever pivots, how much "slack" does it have? like can you jiggle the lever back and for from where it is bolted to the "perch" which is the part that holds the clutch to your bars.

If I'm understanding you correctly it has a lot of slack. But a friend of mine (that knows bikes very well) is supposed to help me look at it tomorrow so I'll let you know if we can't get it.

well this could be the prob. you should be able to only fit a dime between the actual lever and the perch. look at the pic, that is where you should put the dime.
