This is one of the first twin chamber showa forks. The inner chamber you will fill with oil to about 10-20mm over the ridge to where the base valve inserts. You are essentially filling the chamber up, over filling it somewhat then you will compress the rod to let the extra oil escape out of the chamber. The external chamber you will need to measure the oil level (325-375cc).

If you have the manual it should give the the range of the oil for the outer chamber.

Hope this helps!

it says mm? are you sure it doesnt say mL? this would make more sense, seeing as most shocks take around 1/2 a liter or 500mL. if these are in mm then it is saying that you should fill your forks up 102mm with oil. and an easy way to measure this height would be to subtract 102mm from the max capacity which is 455. so 455-102=353mm. so basically you should take a a piece of string and cut it to 35cm. then put it inside the fork tube to use as a ruler. when the oil reaches the string you are good. this is what i would suggest but i would wait and see if dirtbikenut agrees because he is the suspension expert.

ok then. so that isnt a 1 in the m1 its an L. so you should put 455mL in each fork and if you were to measure from the top of the fork to the level of oil it would be 102mm.

Ok, so I think what the manual is describing is 455 ml ( or cc's, it's the same measurement) for the outer chamber; then 102 mm from the top of the inner chamber. Is the 102 measurement in ml of mm? It's odd, but I would expect that the inner chamber would be in a quantity measurement and not a distance, but I haven't played with these forks for a very long time! Sorry, not much help here but I'll do more research to see what I can find.
