3) what do you plan to ride- MX/SX tracks, woods, fields with friends or ?????

mountain bikes at high speeds....
5) Do you think you will race ?
no. definatly not.
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work?
i am very mechanically inclined. what i dont know i will learn as i need to....
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)?
no preference.
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry?
no. i have to drive 60 miles to get to a motorcycle dealer.
9) How much ($) do you plan to spend on a bike?
no more than $3500-$4000
10) Do you live in California?
no
11) Your age?
blackjack
12) anything else that you think would help form an opinion
i live out in the country so i need something that will handle highway speeds easily. but also take some punishment as far as bumps, rocks, and potholes go.... also the main reason for me getting a bike is to save money on gas. so high mpg is important. i would like something that could handle me and my wife but its not necessary.... she is 5'&" 180 lbs. she will only be a passenger, never driving it.

i don't think the 450 would do to good with a passenger...

650 will be great for on road / dirt road travel but may be a bit much for off road

however since you take it easy i think you could handle it
