trying to figure out what this bike is

i know its a yamaha and is somewhere from the mid 70's to the early 80's. someone gave it to me and i am thinking about fixing it up.

yeah, you may want to start fresh
it would be AT LEAST:
new full engine
full drivetrain
brakes
new frame or serious work to that one
plastics
cables

actually, i think the only usable things are the rear fender, your foot peg and kickstand

kick stands in good shape. rear fender i actually screwed up and rubs the back wheel, fixable though.... and the footpegs are bent. the frame is actually in good shape, little to no rust in most places...

If I had to make a guess its probably a dt or gt, maybe even a at-1

well ive been thinking about getting a motorcycle or a street legal dirt bike for driving to work and back.... thought maybe this one might be worth fixing up.
