Yes, exhaust should be mirror finish. For the intake, they suggest about the same finish as if it was sanded with 120 grit paper. You do want to make the intake too smooth because fuel and air will not mix properly. You can also remove the casting flaws in the intake port as well.

so i don't actually have to change the ports shape? thats the part that makes me nervous
it would be nice if i could get 1 or 2 more hp out of it
running a high compression piston would be bad for the woods wouldn't it?

should i mirror the combustion chamber as well?
