RT 180 is a 2-stroke right? Then how could ignition timing cause it to run backwards? I could see it on a four stroke but not a 2 stroke.

yes it is a 2stroke.......... I dont think you could get a 4stroke to run backwards because of cam timing and such.

You can run a 4 stroke backwards if you custom ground cams for it. I just don't see how ignition timing can cause a 2 stroke to run backwards?

I know you can run 4-strokes backwards with the right cams because we build an engine for a drag race guy and when he got the engine he said it ran backwards. After going back and forth with him we realized that since he was used to running Honda engines that do run opposite direction of a Toyota. So we build a custom set of cams for him and that was all he needed to reverse the rotation of the engine.

in a two stroke it is very easy because there is no valve except for the piston so if you look at the piston it will still be moving the same running the engine either way

the only difference is it firing before or after tdc

if everything is put right in the clutch case then it shouldnt run backwards. the way you kick it will make the gears on the crankshaft turn the right way, take off the clutch cover and look at things. the take off the next case on the engine, that will show you everthing on the right side off the engine, except the gears, which arent the problem anyway

try rolling it down a hill (forward) while holding in clutch in about 4th or 5th gear and let off clutch, it should start forward
does this bike happen to have a reverse gear?
